I don't know if you have any other fun cars, but as someone who bought himself a small, manual, soft top a few years ago (a 94 Miata), I can tell you that I have no regrets.

There’s something about small convertibles that make you feel like you’re driving a go-kart.

From a safety perspective, it's better to think of it as a really safe motorcycle instead of a really unsafe car.

It wasn’t c onvertible but I loved my 91 Civic for that gokarty feeling. I’ve been missing the feeling of a small lightweight car since then.

So long as you understand German car of that vintage equates to the exact opposite in safety terms as it does now. Hitting a deer at 40 might very well seat the engine in your lap. This a prime example of a vehicle that near wholly unfit for use on today’s roads.

So of course it offers unbridled fun. Keep it fun!

My other cars have 17.5 airbags, side impact protection, abs and traction control. They’re like 90% safe, so if this car is let’s 10% safe, or better than riding  a chopper with no helmet then my automobile safty average is like 63% that’s not.. horrible.

My wife approves of these too. I’ve yet to find one good enough to pull the trigger on though. Good luck - good price if it isn’t hiding  anything scary underneath.
